At an airport, a man has a strange encounter with an old woman who insults him and then passes out and dies in front of him. He sees what he thinks is his wife waiting in an arrival lounge to meet another man. Told that he has terminal cancer, he’s offered a highly unorthodox, experimental treatment that involves meeting a surgeon dressed as Santa Claus. Viewing a photograph that reveals his contempt for his son, he feels he deserves nothing less than death. The rest of the program is composed of a montage of short pieces. A man and woman talk in a crowded bar. Joe imagines a lifetime with a cellist who passes on the street. Joe and a woman sing playful ad-libbing songs in English and French at the piano.
