I came upon Joe Frank for the first time, on 91.1 WFMU in New Jersey. I only caught the tail end of a story and was completely confused by what I was hearing, but also absolutely mesmerised by the music in the background complimenting that silky melodious voice. I made sure to write down the time and day I heard his program, so I wouldn’t miss it. The following week, I made sure I was home, settled in my room, and ready to listen to the entire story from start to finish. That’s when I fell madly in love with Joe Frank. At first, it seemed like separate little stories, but in the end they all converged, into what is known as The River and I was struck by the genius of it all. I have been an avid fan ever since.
